Overview
The word "bridge" in the name "broken bridge aluminium" means "cold and hot bridge" in materials science, and "broken" represents an action word, which means "cutting off the cold and hot bridge".
Specifically speaking, aluminium alloy is a metal medium with strong thermal conductivity. When there is a big difference in temperature with the outside temperature, the aluminium alloy becomes a "bridge" for transferring heat. If this type of material is used to make doors and windows, it will have poor thermal insulation performance. However, the broken bridge aluminium is to break the aluminium alloy in the middle. The thermal conductivity of plastic is weaker than that of metal. Hard plastic is used to connect the broken aluminium alloy together. In this way, heat is not easy to flow to the whole material, so the thermal insulation will be better. This is the origin of the name "broken bridge aluminium (alloy)".
